About the person Carsten Felsmann:
I saw the light of day on 08.01.1963 in Hannover. I grew up and went to school in Hannover-Anderten. I graduated from the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Hanover in May 1982. Afterwards, I studied history and philosophy at the Leibniz University in Hanover and then psychology at the Georg-August University in Göttingen in 1989. My studies ended with the degree Bachelor of Arts Social Work (B.A) at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hannover. A state recognition was acquired by me in the form of a one-year professional internship followed by a colloquium.
During all these years I have always remained faithful to my passion for music. Whenever I found time, I "worked" on my electric guitar 🎸 and the white and black keys of my IBACH piano. On my ROLAND R-8 I programmed beats and with the help of my ATARI 1024 ST I made the first steps in sampling on the STEINBERG Twenty Four which was released at that time.
These technical innovations at that time led musically to the fact that I could realize my dream of writing symphonic arrangements - even if within limits. At that time, I used a TASCAM Porta One Ministudio for my recordings. This was a 4-track cassette recorder with an integrated mixer that allowed the creation of multi-track recordings. So I was able to layer several instruments like piano, guitars and beats recorded one after the other. What always bothered me about the recordings was the high noise level and the reduced acoustic punch of the individual instruments due to the multi-track process on cassette.
This changed fundamentally with the use of the PC at the end of the 90s of the last millennium - a quantum leap for every musician. For the first time, MIDI and audio recording could be combined in digital quality. The possibilities of digital editing in ranges of thousandths of a second made it possible for the first time to cut audio material exactly - quasi silently. The streaming of several instruments was limited only by the computing capacity or the CPU performance of the processor and the operational RAM of the 32-bit Windows at that time.
I now use a 64-bit Windows 10 PC in the Pro version with 32 GB RAM and an i-7 processor in conjunction with a Steinberg AXR USB audio interface. My DAW is a STEINBERG Cubase 12 Pro in the current version. I use several plug-ins - these include software synthesizers as well as sound-modifying plug-ins, among which I count various EQs or compressors such as OZONE 9 and others. Currently, I work almost exclusively "in-the-box" on my arrangements, which means that the audio signal is merely monitored by me through headphones. To record external hardware - like piano, acoustic guitar or cajon I use an analog 8-track mixer from YAMAHA. The audio material leaves the soundcard via the outputs and is fed into a signal chain of EQ, compressor, noise gate and DAT recorder - also from YAMAHA - for quick backup of ideas as well as monitoring in the room...
This method of working has proven itself, since it takes place musically as well as tonally quasi under a magnifying glass. Small nuances can be detected in the sound image and changed accordingly if necessary.
The services I offer in the field of audio basically refer to any need for musical content. I adapt the sound design I develop to the specific needs of the client. It is important for me to know in advance the audio format you require with regard to the desired end product, so that I can work towards this goal early on in the composition process.
For example, I use ADOBE Premiere Pro for the synchronization of audio and visual material. For pre-production, it is sufficient to have the visual material virtually running in STEINBERG Cubase 12 Pro. For the exact time code an integration in ADOBE Premiere Pro is necessary. It is possible to render the final product in this program, so that picture and sound are synchronous. Details regarding the solution or the order can of course - and for you as a customer free of charge - be discussed on the phone beforehand. If you leave your phone number or e-mail address, I will be happy to call you back or write you a message.
If I have aroused your interest and you would like to contact me, I am available to you by e-mail 24 hours a day at: kontakt@felsmann-sounddesign.com as well as by phone at: 0176 - 807 15 708.
>> Information about the purpose and use of this website
a) The audio samples that you can find on my website as an acapella/vocal artist or singer-songwriter are constantly being updated and are therefore examples of some of my work. They are intended to show you that it is possible to compose a complete song from an acapella track and then produce it.
b) For advertising orders from the industrial and craft sector, I will be happy to provide a corresponding offer depending on the genre upon written request.

>> This is how you get to the start page with the audio samples.
The sole purpose of this website is to get in contact with talented solo artists who already have pre-produced acapella vocal tracks and to start a final, radio-ready music production together with them. - If you feel addressed as a musician, please do not hesitate to contact me, so that we can achieve this goal together.
- On the playlist of this website you will find some audio samples to illustrate what this is all about musically.
Of course I will respond to your wishes and concerns and align my composition to your singing. The goal we have declared together should be to touch as many people as possible through this music and to give their imagination "wings". Music can heal old, self-injuring and painful feelings - and replace them with new, beautiful experiences.

How do I work during a music production? >>
After recording the individual instruments such as piano, guitar or vocals, my working method is mainly oriented towards an "in the box" production. With the help of tools that simplify music production in the DAW and greatly improve the sound, the amount of outboard gear can be greatly limited without compromising the sound.

The curriculum vitae >>
This excerpt on the person refers to the rather boring, formal part of the "stations" of life, which I think are not particularly spectacular. Every person knows this. From my current point of view, the so-called qualifications perhaps offer a reason to be able to look at life a little more differentiated, which also does not detract from artistic creativity.
- But for the artistic-musical part the "spirit" or better said the energy plays a big role and not some "qualification" or a certificate. Every artist who can operate an instrument and stands before a recording of his instrument is "pure". He must bring the necessary focus or attentiveness to the "here and now" at that moment to make a successful recording possible. - Without attentiveness to the sound, professional music production is impossible.
